Holman received a BFA from the University of New Mexico in 1951. He attended the Hans Hofmann School in 1951 and the California School of Fine Arts in 1953. He spent his life in the San Francisco Bay Area. His work was exhibited at the Whitney and the Smithsonian, and he had one-man shows at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the DeYoung Museum.
